Map the dependencies
List the suppliers, systems, facilities, and delivery services each order depends on. Identify where a single failure would stop the process and distinguish critical dependencies from inconveniences.
Agree the response in advance
Document who can approve inventory transfers, substitute shipping services, or adjust delivery messaging. A short escalation plan is easier to use than a long document that has never been rehearsed.
Update customers with useful context
When a disruption affects an order, give the customer a clear status and a realistic next update. Keep operational changes and customer-facing messages aligned.
